Smart Learning Solutions

My son Cullen is 12 years old and has ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder). Cullen has a beautiful personality, he is gentle and quiet and loved by his teachers and family. However, his disorder does present barriers to his learning and socialising. He struggles with concentrating on anything other than his own personal passions. He finds the noise of a classroom distracting and stressful. He wanders in the classroom and loves to chatter to himself. Socially, he is ill-equipped for High School.

Many parents with children with ASD feel helpless in finding ways to develop their children. With one year to go before Cullen entered High School we were determined to do everything we could to prepare him. We were very lucky that a colleague of mine had a child who had commenced a programme with Glynis at Smart Learning. They were delighted in the improvements they had seen in their child. Six months ago we commenced Cullen's journey with Smart Learning and an INPP programme. By the first review session we were convinced we had made the right choice. We were realistic and did not expect quantum leaps but we believe he has made giant steps. Within the first three months, Cullen had gone up a grade in swimming, he achieved an orange belt in Karate, he achieved a most improved award at archery, he improved his reading age by 2 years and he noticeably participated more at cubs.

This gave us the confidence to commence a Johansen Individualised Auditory Stimulaton programme with Glynis. The initial assessment proved our suspicions. Cullen was overly sensitive to the high frequency noises which the rest of us manage to filter out. This is the noise that makes Cullen stressed in the classroom causing him to wander. On the other hand he was less perceptive with other frequencies which made it difficult to recognise spoken words as well as he should. Three months later after the combined effects of the two programmes Cullen is now sitting down and completing a homework sheet and that is what I call a miracle.

The reward really comes when others recognise the changes in Cullen. Sometimes a little bit of blind faith is required to achieve the best for your child. I have every confidence in Glynis and can't begin to imagine what Cullen will achieve in the next year.

I have nothing but the highest praise for Glynis Brummer and Smart Learning Solutions for the superb work she has done with my son.

William found learning in a classroom environment extremely difficult and getting him to concentrate on any task especially those involving fine motor skills was quite literally an impossibility for him. He could barely even sit still, so you can imagine what a barrier this was to his being able to learn.

Initially we tried another programme but I do not think it correctly targeted the problem as I saw no evidence of any result and what's more he disliked attending. Meanwhile William was also getting further behind with his schoolwork and his self esteem was plummeting terribly. As a parent it was heartbreaking to watch.

Then through personal recommendation I was lucky enough to find Glynis and Smart Learning Solutions, which has been a totally different experience from the first programme we tried.

Glynis is a naturally gifted teacher, who loves children and who is totally passionate about seeing them overcome their difficulties and achieve to the best of their abilities. Kids instinctively know this. William did and through her tireless encouragement combined with a programme designed specifically to target his needs (and which she makes fun), a new boy is emerging. The results have been remarkable! What has been impossible for years has changed drastically with the space of a few months. He is now able to concentrate on tasks and to sit calmly. He now possesses the skills he needs to learn. In fact his spelling age in the space of this last month has increased by an entire year. His general demeanor and confidence levels have changed markedly too. The results I think speak for themselves.

I cannot thank Glynis enough for the changes she has made to my son's life and I could not recommend Smart Learning Solutions more highly.

We started Jordan at Smart Learning about 18 months ago when he was 9 and a half years old. At the time Jordan was very uncoordinated, he could'nt swim properly, couldn't ride a bike andwas very accident prone. We had numerous A&E visits, about 7 bone fractures easily, plus Jordan was prone to crying alot when things got difficult and would give up. He did not like loud noises and started slipping behind at school.

After consistently following the programes set by Glynis dialy we started to be rewarded with small changes in Jordan. After 6 months Jordan made significant progress - he just started to ride his bike (he could never do this before) and is now a whizz. Jordan can swim fanatastically, heeven does back stroke. We have only been to the A&E twice this year! And his temperment has improved. Jordan's homework is now done with pride, he aims for A's and even starts planning on a Sunday to get an early start for the week.

We are really proud of Jordan, thankful to Glynis and Heidi for their help and the Smart Learning Programmes we utilised. Do your child and family a favour and give it a go, and remember it has to become a part of your daily schedule - but the rewards will be great.

I have a son who was diagnosed with mild Austism Spectrum Disorder. I was recommended Smart Learning and enrolled my son into their INPP programme. It has been amazing to see the improvement in our son. He has just blossomed under the programme. He is more outgoing, his fine / gross motor skills have improved evident in the things that we do with him.
