Remedial Teaching with a Difference
The INPP Teacher's Course
Smart Learning Solutions Ltd are the designated providers of the ‘One Day Course in the Use of the INPP Schools Programme.’ This programme is a specific and unique course developed by Sally Goddard-Blythe at INPP in Chester. To view the research conducted on the efficacy of this programme, please click here.
This is a one-day course in the use of a simple test battery to detect Neuro-Developmental Delay, and in the administration of a series of remedial exercises which may be used with the individual child, a small group or a whole class of children over the course of 2-3 terms.
The purpose of the course is to promote awareness, by professionals working with children, of the possibility of physical factors being the cause of specific learning difficulties. It will also explain how they may detect these physical factors in a child, the reasons why a child may hold a pencil a particular way, or may sit with one or both legs under him/her etc.

Structure of the Course
Morning 9.00am - 1.00 pm
The morning includes summary of the research into the effects of abnormal reflexes upon education. The role of reflexes in development is discussed together with an introduction to the links between neurological development and readiness for learning.
Instruction is given in the use of a small test battery, which takes 15-20 minutes to administer. The test battery comprises tests for three of the reflexes crucial to learning, two tests to assess balance and co-ordination, a test for visual tracking (visual pursuit), visual integration, visual discrimination, visual- motor integration and sound discrimination.
Lunch 1.00 – 2.00pm
Lunch will be provided.
Afternoon 2.00 - 4.30pm
The afternoon is entirely devoted to the remedial exercises. The exercises are based upon normal movement patterns which develop in the first year(s) of life and which play a crucial role in laying the foundations for subsequent academic learning.
